If you like corn on the cob, you’re not going to want to miss the first Annual Cornfest in downtown Leesburg on Saturday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition to thousands of fresh Zellwood corn, the event features food and beer vendors, children’s activities, games, drawings and entertainment from the MT Pucketts and more.
The Downtown Leesburg Business Association is hosting the festival. Admission is free. For more information, log on to www.itsyourdowntown.com.
After the Cornfest, festivalgoers are encouraged to stick around for the home opener for the Leesburg Lightning baseball team at 7 p.m. at Pat Thomas Stadium, located at 240 Ball Park Road in Leesburg.
The Leesburg Lightning is the defending champion of the Florida Collegiate Summer League (www.floridaleague.com), which includes four other teams — Orlando Mavericks, Sanford River Rats, Winter Park Diamond Dawgs and DeLand Suns.
